Your 2026 Reading Adventure Starts Now!
Pack your canteen, grab your sunhat, and step into the blazing beauty of the American Southwest — because Race 200: Dinosaur in the Desert has officially begun! This year, you’re not just reading books… you’re uncovering fossils, piecing together ancient mysteries, and helping our entire community build a dinosaur skeleton one bone at a time.
What’s the Story This Year?
Imagine this: for the 2026 calendar year, you’ve gained rare access to a fossil‑rich dig site deep in the desert. The clock is ticking. Every book you read is another fossil you unearth. Every review you write is another clue dusted off. And every seasonal reading list you explore helps you dig deeper into the earth.
Together, as our community hits point milestones, we’ll reveal new bones on our giant dinosaur skeleton display — watching it grow from scattered fragments into a towering prehistoric creature.
How You Can Help Build the Dinosaur
Race 200 is simple, fun, and open to Oakland County residents ages 18 and up. You earn points by:
- Reading books
- Writing reviews
- Reading from our monthly booklists
As the community reaches collective point goals (25, 50, 75, and beyond), we’ll add new bones to the skeleton. And when you personally reach 200 points, you’ll “complete the skeleton” and earn this year’s exclusive treasure: a dino skeleton enamel pin — your badge of honor for a year of discovery.
Why Join the Race?
- It’s a yearlong adventure that makes reading feel like a quest.
- You’ll discover new books, new genres, and new authors.
- You’ll help the whole community build something together.
- And honestly? It’s just fun.
Whether you’re a lifelong reader or someone looking for a fresh start in 2026, Race 200 gives you a reason to keep turning pages — and a story to be part of.
